Sutton - Croydon Bus Changes

Major changes to buses across Croydon and Sutton - see what’s being planned and have your say before 30th November.

UPDATE: deadline now extended to Sunday 20th December

Transport for London are planning changes to bus routes S1, S3, S4, 80, 164, 166, 312, 405, 407, 413, 434, 455 and 470, and the introduction of new routes S2, 439 and 443.

The changes are quite complex with existing routes being cut or re-routed, and new routes added. Overall the changes are expected to improve services, but there are some problems that I can see and I’d like your help to spot any others.

You can read all the planned changes, the reasoning, and maps to illustrate the plans on the consultation page:

For example, in some cases, instead of a long route from A->B->C it’s been turned into two shorter routes A->B and B->C. TfL expect this to improve capacity and reliability across the whole route, but it means more bus changes on your journey. The Mayor uses the Hopper Fare to justify this but it’s still inconvenient. At the least, if the Mayor insists on dividing routes in this way, I’ll campaign to make sure there are suitable facilities at the new changeover. The changes to the S2 and S4 around Belmont for instance.
